Driveway Basketball Hoops

BEEN TRYING TO DEAL WITH IT FOR 5+ YEARS! Need fast-growing shrub/tree for west side of so.cal home!?

We have very LOUD neighbors, whose 5 kids play basketball and shred their skateboard rail til the wee hours, especially in the summer. All 4 of our bedroom windows are within 10 feet of their driveway(basketball hoop and rail therein). Although we’ve asked them several times to wrap it up, and they comply, they still don’t permanently get it. We have planted Japanese Yew on that side, but I swear, the bushes have grown only about 6 inches taller since I planted them 2 years ago. I need something fast-growing, and space-filling to replace them with ASAP.
We live in Southern California, and the front of our home faces north, the side in question is the west side. Any suggestions, please? Thanks again!

What about ficus? I see this used as a divider or gate replacement and it grows fast and thick. Bamboo also grows fast but I’m not sure it would be thick enough to effectively block sound. Both of these plants can be invasive and spread like crazy. Talk to your local nusery.

I know they do well in So.Cal. since I live there and have both of these. We have a neighbors swimming pool right outside our bedroom with two screaming little girls. Of course they don’t swim until 9pm when my kids are in bed. Some people are just rude.
